Andrew Charles is a Professor of Neurology and the Meyer and Renee Luskin Chair in Migraine and headache studies. He is director of the UCLA Migraine and Pain Program. As director of this program, he oversees a multidisciplinary team focused on discovering basic mechanisms of migraine and pain that can be targeted by new treatments. His laboratory uses imaging and electrophysiological techniques to investigate cellular signaling pathways involved in migraine and pain. He also leads projects involved in functional brain imaging of patients with migraine and pain. Based on their research, the program is developing new pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment approaches.
